Do you have any thoughts on successful social justice work done in a Christian spirit, but without the neg. side of proselytiz/evangeliz?
Leaving aside your characterization of evangelism as negative (my feelings on this are ridiculously complicated, but I see the issue more in shades of gray),...

I wouldn’t hug Hauerwas. Only because I’m still a little creeped out by his voice. I would hug Eleanor Stump, given the chance - but it was a little inappropriate when she came to campus last Thursday to hug her during her lecture.
Haha, I’ll be sure to let my Hauerwas-loving friends know you find him...

Why are people afraid of Barth? I wish he was alive - I would run up and give him a hug.
I like to think that I would, too. I have that reaction to a lot of theologians, actually. Although, I’ve never hugged the ones I’ve actually met.

Hung up was the wrong word. Although, yesterday my pastor said in his homily, “the cross is something people get hung up on”. Which I thought was hilarious. I meant, I get overwhelmed by the weight of that statement.

I haven’t noticed the speed up. I get hung up on “the forgiveness of sins”.
I think it’s because it’s such a long sentence you kind of have to get a running start to make it all the way through.
Why do you get hung up on that?

Oh goodness, light from light is incredible. When I get to “crucified, dead, and buried” in the Apostles’ Creed - I get chills. Every time.

Your posts always make me sigh happily. For Lent, I’m spending time dwelling on the seven last words of Christ. What are you spending time with?
Prayer, mostly. I’m also giving up anxious thoughts; we’ll see how that goes.
